Graphite electrode, mainly petroleum coke, needle coke as raw material, coal pitch as binder, calcination, ingredients, kneading, molding, baking and graphitization, machining and made, which is released in electric arc furnace in the form of arc conductor of electricity to heat melting furnace charge, according to its quality index, can be divided into ordinary power, high power and high power. Graphite electrodes mainly include ordinary power graphite electrodes, oxidation resistant coating graphite electrodes, high power graphite electrodes and ultra-high power graphite electrodes.
Graphite electrodes include:
(1) Ordinary power graphite electrode
Allowed to use the current density of less than 17A/ cm 2 graphite electrode, mainly used in steel, silicon, yellow phosphorus smelting ordinary power furnace.
(2) Oxidation resistant coated graphite electrode
Graphite electrode coated with a protective layer of oxidation (graphite electrode antioxidant). Forming a protective layer that can conduct electricity and withstand high temperature oxidation, reducing the consumption of electrode (19%~50%), extending the service life of electrode (22%~60%), and reducing the energy consumption of electrode.
(3) High power graphite electrode
The use of graphite electrodes with current densities of 18 ~ 25A/ cm2 is permitted, mainly used in high-power electric arc furnaces for steelmaking.
(4) Ultra-high power graphite electrode
Graphite electrodes with current densities greater than 25A/ cm 2 are allowed. Mainly used in ultra-high power steelmaking electric arc furnaces.
